The Ile d'Yeu is located in the Bay of Biscay, south of Noirmoutier and is part of the Vendée department. It is crossed by the GR80 which makes the turn on a circuit of 28 kilometers, allowing to discover various coastal landscapes. The Ile d'Yeu is steeped in history as it was inhabited 5,000 years ago. Numerous prehistoric remains (dolmens, menhirs, etc.), lighthouses and other small ports can be discovered. Classified as a historical monument since 1890, the Vieux Château is a medieval fortress surrounded by the sea, which is said to have inspired Hergé to write "The Black Island" in Tintin.
