About Saint-Malo
Saint-Malo is situated in Brittany in the French department of Ille-et-Vilaine. Saint-Malo is the main port on the north coast of Brittany. Its inhabitants are known as Malouins and Malouines. The tides in the Saint-Malo Bay are amongst the most dramatic in Europe. Caution is needed when visiting the seafront, where special signage and life buoys are installed all the way along the Chaussée du Sillon that runs alongside the beach. Malo is saint who is also known as Maclovius. It is one of the few large cities in Brittany not to have signed the Ya d'ar brezhoneg (Yes to the Breton language) charter, which aims to increase the use of the Breton language in everyday life. The city is mentioned in the songs Rockollection, by Laurent Voulzy, Trois matelots, by Renaud and On me recherche, by Johnny Hallyday.
